“Roma”

Grand Rapids, MI (Tiempo Latino) .- A strong scent of the life of Mexico City at the beginning of the seventies has “Roma” the new film by Alfonso Cuaron.

The film portrays details of the massacre of students on June 10, 1971, or “Thursday of Corpus” when a paramilitary group “Los Halcones”, made up of common criminals trained by the Mexican government massacred dozens of students during a manifestation in Mexico City.

Not only is it a film with political overtones but it also portrays the famous mosaic floors of the houses in Mexico City, the spacious houses of the Roma neighborhood, and the life of the domestic workers.

Cleo may be one of the thousands of domestic workers who live and work in Mexico City, peasants who migrate to the capital to work in the homes of middle class people.

When the city was not so dangerous and you could go for a walk to the “sea”, a film that evokes so many memories for the capital and also the essence of the capital and that leaves a sweet taste in our mouths.
